【摘要】:Theprocessingbehavior(processability)ofrubberorrubberlikematerialsiscloselyrelatedtotheirviscoelasticproperties.Theviscoelasticpropertiesaswellasthemechanicalpropertiesarerelatedtothepolymeric,includingmacromolecularandmicromolecularstructure.Therefore,adeterminationoftheviscoelasticityofamaterialwillprovideinformationtopredictprocessingandserviceperformance.Stressrelaxationtestingprovidesamethodologyforinvestigatingtheviscoelasticityofrubberorrubberlikematerials.Certainstructuralcharacteristicsthathavebeendemonstratedtobeevaluatedbythistestmethodare:(1)averagemolecularweight,(2)molecularweightdistribution,(3)linearityorchainbranching,(4)gelcontent,and(5)monomerratio.Thispracticeisintendedtodescribevariousmethodsofmeasuringthestressrelaxationpropertiesofrawrubber,unvulcanizedrubbercompounds,orthermoplasticelastomersfordeterminingtheprocessabilityofthesematerialsthroughviscoelasticmeasurements.Factoryperformancecharacteristicsthatthismethodologymaycorrelatewithincludedieswellorshrinkage,extrusionrate,millbanding,carbonblackincorporationtime,andmoldflow.1.1Thispracticecoversseveraldifferenttechniquesfordeterminingthestressrelaxationcharacteristicsofrubberandrubberlikematerialsandforthepossibleinterconversionofthisstressrelaxationinformationintodynamicmechanicalproperties.1.2Thetechniquesareintendedformaterialshavingstressrelaxationmoduliintherangeof103to108Pa(0.1to1.5x104psi)andfortesttemperaturesfrom23to225176;C(73to437176;F).Notallmeasuringapparatusmaybeabletoaccommodatetheentireranges.Thesetechniquesarealsointendedformeasurementofmaterialsintheirrubberyormoltenstates,orboth.1.3Differencesinresultswillbefoundamongthetechniques.Becauseofthesedifferences,thetestreportneedstoincludethetechniqueandtheconditionsofthetest.Thisinformationwillallowforresolvinganyissuespertainingtothetestmeasurements.1.4Thegeneralizeddescriptionsofapparatusarebasedonthemeasurementofforceasafunctionoftime.Mathematicaltreatmentofthatrelationshipproducesinformationthatcanberepresentativeofmaterialproperties.Mathematicaltransformationoftheforcemeasurementswillfirstyieldstressrelaxationmoduliwithsubsequenttransformationproducingdynamicmechanicalproperties.1.5ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareprovidedforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
